Starlight
Sleep succumbed my eyelids to slip like butter on a frying pan,
Purple haze fogged my earliest memories of sun glinting trees, and new plastic toys,
Strum a guitar, hum a worthless melody,
Honey drips like amber light onto the table,
Illuminating the contours and edges of the wood,
Pink chipped nails shimmer in the warm yellow light,
Swimming thoughts,
Cotton sheets,
And the moon winks at the stars in velvety blackness,
A new day ahead.
