The Immortal Game
In a room, in a forest
In an ancient land
Is a table of players
Who play an immortal hand
There are four of them
Each playing to win
Jack, King, Queen
And a joker who can’t stop jokin’
They sit at the table
As time goes on
They don’t notice
As years go and new ones come
Sitting there so long
They know each play
Which is what makes it impossible
For them to finish and walk away
The Queen is a natural
She was born with a way
Of knowing which cards to hold
And which ones to play
The King isn’t quite as good
But he can read each face
By doing this he knows
Who holds the ace
The Jack is a blond misfit
Not to mention young
But obviously he’s rather good
After all, he is the Queen’s son
The Joker is the person
Who got them all in the game
Even though he knows this
He has no shame
Each player has their strength
Each has their flaw
Each is cunning and clever
As a rich outlaw
How they got here to this immortal game
No one really knows
There’s many tales and stores each different
In plot, character, setting and foes
Will the game ever end?
Or will they always play?
Locked away from the world
From the knowledge of light and day?
Will they always sit
They’re eyes never looking away
Will their vision always be full
Of the heart, diamond, club and spade?
Find them if you dare
If you really think you can
Find them if you know
The way to the Ancient Land
For as the world goes on
As nights become days
The game goes on
And each person plays
In a room in a forest
In the Ancient Land
Is a table of players
Each unwilling to lose the hand
