The sands of time slide through my fingers
Just like the way your hair used to
So many years ago
I remember those days
When your smile gave more warmth than the sun
And your laugh was wilder than the cry of the gulls
Everything about you as perfect as
The curve of this shell in my palm
But the passing days carried you away
Like the tide of the ocean
And now all I’ve got is your footprints beside me
As the sands of time slip through my fingers
