Parents
You can take away my money, you can take away my phone,
But please don’t take away my guitar. It keeps me company when I’m alone.
You can take away my computer , you can take away my T.V.
But please don’t take away my friends, they’ve done nothing wrong to me.
You can try and tell me what to do, and we can argue it all day,
In the end it doesn’t matter , I’ll just go out any way.
I can do without my bike, and I can do without my car,
But I can’t do without my shoes, or I won’t get very far.
I’ll do what I want, you don’t have control over me.
I’ll run barefoot through the snow. I’ll do anything to be free.
I’ll fly away, on my own, there’s nothing you can do.
I’ll run another fifty miles, to get away from you.
I can live without my clothes, I can live without my food,
But I can’t live without my sense of pride, even if I’m rude.
I’ll live alone in the woods, sleeping, hunting fishing,
I’ll have my independence, but still can’t stop wishing.
Is it really worth it in the end? Is this how I it has to be?
All either of us wants is an apology, but you won’t get one from me.
