I Smelled It Before I Saw It
I smelled it before I saw it.
The gentle, unmistakable, sweet air that only the rain brings.
I got up and parted the blinds, finding my world to be a drenched wonderland. I quickly ran downstairs and outside, stopping on my porch. Outstretching my arm, I splayed my fingers letting the tiny droplets build on my hand. I slowly walked down the sidewalk, away from the dry safety the trees brought. Tilting my head upward, I felt the cool wind sweep across my face. I stood, with my eyes close, and just listened to the soft beating of the rain hitting the street.
I didn't care who was watching.
My neighbors think i'm crazy anyways.
