Losing Years
What happened to mud baths
And bedhead all day long?
Saturday morning cartoons
Some have changed and most are gone.
Replaced by Bratz and magazines,
And skimpy little clothes.
Glossy lips on an eight-year-old
And powder on her nose.
Sneaking Mommy’s diet pills
(To lose the extra pounds)
Vomiting when Mom’s at work,
And Daddy’s not around.
Seventeen and Cosmo Girl
Can teach her about kissing,
But what about important things,
Like the childhood she’s missing?
