Vertigo
Courting the edge with you
because “I love you this much,”
two hands back-to-back,
a universe between your palms.
They certainly hold my world,
cupped around that ember which
seems to be a heart,
or may be my sanity,
and I’m begging you to take me away, just this once.
And maybe the fish should teach
the birds to fly, if we’re going that way
already and maybe it isn’t too late.
Not for a heart tickled, like champagne
bubbles in your nose, and smooth skin kissed
by that same champagne or so
it seems in this golden light,
not if you would take me away, just this once.
My reflection in your liquid eyes
twists, but outside the vertigo your fingers on
my waist burn, and breathing
your kisses intoxicates and I know
you could take me away, just this once.
