Take Your Time
Don’t even pretend
that you know about being trapped.
Don’t think;
the walls will only get tighter around you
like a mother’s rules and a drunk man’s dreams.
Someone is screaming but I think it’s both of us together.
They’re walking towards us and you shield yourself.
We’re here to support you
or suffocate you.
The choice is yours, take your time.
Lying is their language and you are looking out
the window; our swing set has broken,
and chewing gum is on your shoe.
Oh how I wish I could learn French!
But suddenly ten seconds are gone.
Do you want to be here? Neither do we.
Your time is up.
