It was a dare
And out of it
I could get a WHOLE dollar
Why not?
At age eight
A dollar was a lot.
I had to eat the orange peel.
My dad ripped it off.
Not that big,
It had to be a small piece.
It was going to be bitter,
But
A dollar was a lot.
Here goes nothing.
Into my mouth,
Chew,
Chew,
And swallow.
It was bitter
And hard.
But,
A dollar was a lot.
