The Ocean Beckons
I walk up to her and say “hello”!
Nothing, just the splish and splashing of her waves,
Endlessly turning.
Then she speaks and here she says,
“Why don’t you swim and spend time with me?”
I sit still on the beach,
The sand on my skin,
The wind on my face.
But she still asks, even though I’m silent.
Her waves outstretched,
Beckoning for me,
Yearning for me,
But too far away I sit and stare.
Not wanting to join in on the fun.
Come nightfall she’s bored with me,
Done with asking and wishing.
“Until tomorrow”, she says
And she disappears.
