Patience: A Sonnet
When summer lights the sky with golden beams,
She will stand and watch and hope and always,
Always wait, from autumn’s leaf-scented days
To winter’s frozen snow and icy streams.
Although her heart with questions always teems
And years go by yet she still counts the ways
He promised that his heart would never stray.
His face will stay forever in her dreams.
Would that she saw him now and heard him speak.
Those words of love that once he said to her
He whispers now to others. Loves’ archer
Is he and never knows her heart does break.
For what cares he of patience or of love?
He knows that he will always ever move.
