I Needed You
i would always dream what you'd be like.
when i was younger i'd put on that plastic pink and furry tiara on,
and pretend you were a prince, ready to rescue me.
or maybe even a superhero.
ready to fly to any height just to see me.
as i grew up, my imagination grew weaker.
but my hope didn't go anywhere.
i started to realize it didn't matter who you were.
i just needed you there.
i needed someone to teach me everything a kid should need to know.
like sharing fairytale stories before bed that would make me believe anything was possible.
like teaching me to ride bike, scream when you let go but able to jump in your arms when i got it right.
i just needed my dad.
