My Lament
Endlessly turn these tides;
against tempest cyclones
and pounding storms
they rise and fall indifferently.
If we were so resilient...
to see the stormy darkness
and never waiver,
never tremble,
never fear.
To murmur softly,
"There must be goodness here."
To train our minds with spartan fortitude
and revel at the challenge of these storms
If only courage came so easily
as peevishness does
Oh, the things that I would do.
