To Shake the Dead
I am the dead.
There is no need to cry.
Crying will not cause me to roll over in my grave,
Nor to take my ashes, from the places I am sprinkled,
And give you a small, decayed-laced hug.
I am the dead.
There is no need hide the mirrors or pictures.
I will not see your reflection.
I will not feel you stroke my face in my wedding picture.
I am the dead.
There is no need to remember.
I do not remember you.
I do not feel the pain that you do.
I am the dead.
There is no need to avenge me.
Two deaths does not make it right.
We become the dead together, when you are trying to keep us apart.
We are the dead.
But you mourn us separately.
We cannot hear you,
Though you wish us to.
We do not hear you for
We are the dead.
