"It's a good thing to be strange. Normalness leads to sadness." -Philip Lester

Mom
whenever you're down or sad,
whenever you feel like you can't even stand
when you're mad or lost
and forget which way you must cross
whenever you need a friend, an ally, a helping hand
I'll be there for you
I've got your back
I'll take your hand to guide you through

Mom
when you want to laugh
but turn around and see only a shadow
don't worry, I'm never far behind
you'll never lose me in the dark
or fall or trip and break your own heart
because wherever you are, I am too
and wherever you stand, I'm there with you

Mom
life may get tough
it seems to never give you time to rest
your hair just gets grayer and your back turns to rust
you feel like giving up, like all your hard work never pays off
don't, because it does
you are so strong, like Atlas, you might want to drop the earth
but letting go wouldn't be fair
to me
to Eleia
to all the people who care

Mom
you are strong, and proud, and beautiful
you are who I aim to be
so don't let others tell you no
yes yes yes
you are the best !

Mom
you make me happy all the time
you hold me close when I cry
you make me mad sometimes too, but isn't that what mother's do ?
you gave me courage when I lost my will to fly
you shaped me into who I am today
you showed me the better way

Mom
no matter what you do
just know
that
I love you

The author's comments:
I wrote this poem while thinking about my mom, it's all about her. My mom is my hero and is a strong, independent woman that I admire deeply.
I hope other teens will, after reading this, look at their mother's and be proud of them. Because being a mother is the hardest thing and you need so much strength and courage !
I dedicate this poem to all mothers. So mom ? This is for you, for all you do and sacrifice for me and to say thank you. I love you !

“I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way: The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear.” -Edgar Guest

This is a very good, very well written poem. I love it and I gave it five stars. speaking of moms, mine is kicking me off my computers so I cant say more, but could you check out some of my works?
