Death of a Lover
Follow me under the tree
Boggle as you look at me
We hide inside the greenery
The shadows dance and set us free
Painted red with passion; perfect, undefined
You spoke so softly as our spirits combined
Time stood still for us, it was beautiful
Called it “love”, our ignorance was blissful
But then there came that awful day
When something in your heart turned gray
Your eyes were empty when I cried
Your act was fusty; a vicious lie
Uncaring of my pain, I was left in sorrow
I crumbled when I watched you go
My hearts not healed, but I’ll be fine
I’ll sleep alright, just give me time
Your memories linger with me still
You left a hole I’m trying to fill
But I can sit alone under our tree
I don’t need you to be set free
The passion still lives inside of me
But a part of me wishes, yours hadn’t died…
