Mother
A faint smile on her lips,
as her mind slips away from sleep,
and so much more.
I miss the red-gold, that once framed her face,
and sooner than I could ever imagine,
I will miss the bare, soft skin that now remains.
Hanging on by just a thread,
slim, beautiful, weak fingers show the love
she once only kept within herself.
At one time, she had the strength to make the world tremble,
or even laugh without end.
Sadly she may not see me marry,
or the grand-kids that will love her, ...
But from above and from in my soul,
she will live on,
giving strength to what was once weak.
