Am I Here?

I remember what my parents told me:
There are times when you must speak up.
Speak? Why would I do such a thing?
So that I could voice my existence.

There are times when you must speak up.
I’ve tried with power in my body.
So that I could voice my existence.
But the precious noise died out.

I’ve tried with power in my body.
A vibration danced delicately out my throat.
But the precious noise died out.
No soul will ever know I am hear.

A vibration danced delicately out my throat.
As hard as I tried, it was useless.
No soul will ever know I am here.
Relief breaks through instead of anger.

As hard as I tried, it was useless.
I feel the fire of my peers’ eyes.
Relief breaks through instead of anger.
I gaze at the endless baby blue sky instead of their faces.

I feel the fire of my peers’ eyes.
Will I ever know the meaning of speaking?
I gaze at the endless baby blue sky instead of their faces.
I will never be able to do it.

Will I ever discover the true meaning of speaking?
I remember what my parents told me.
I will never be able to do it.
Speak? Why would I do such a thing?
