Just A Moment
We sold our smiles
To the moment
And shed our skins in
The chilled night air
Everything looked so beautiful
Through the veil of stars...
The air below is fogged by
The synchronized breathing
Of marching men
But our breathing is so
Sporadic;
Should we stop breathing
Just for the sake of a steady beat?
Raw and
Naked truths dance through
Metallic irises;
Stained by mortal sin.
We shackle ourselves to these frigid realties
Just for some semblance of temporary release.
But then, the moment
Passes
And our feet touch the ground
Heavy and graceless.
Now we can look into the mirror
And find reason to smile.
