Changing Worlds
Brush my hair, Mother,
And I’ll feel the teeth of the brush
Fondle in my thick-brown hair
It’s so relaxing, I close my eyes
And I can feel your touch upon me
Like you’ll never let go
You take me away from my
Childish ways
Into the world of adulthood where responsibility
Captures me,
The languages so divergent and
Beautiful.
And the people, I can’t begin to tell you…
They remind me of you, so soft-hearted and gracious.
For once forget all your misfortunes
And live in this fantasy you’ve created.
Brush my hair, Mother,
And I’ll feel the teeth of the brush
Fondle in my thick-brown hair
