Shadows
Shadows are like fake friends, when everything is bright they stick around
But on the dark and dreary days they disappear without a sound
Shadows are like guilt, they cling and refuse to go away
Unless you move in a different direction you can be sure they will stay
Shadows are like anger, they are dark and overtake
A different image of ourselves is often what they make
Shadows are like secrets, they hide things from our sight
We can only see these things once they're brought into the light
Shadows are like problems, they follow where we go
As we move farther away they often seem to grow
Shadows are like lies, they can cover one another
But once you have too many you can't distinguish one from the other
Shadows are like hope, they are always within reach
Many lessons can be learned if we let the shadows teach
Shadows are like life, each contains its very own form
They vary in different ways depending on how each is born
Shadows are like love, they have a story to be told
They can't be broken, erased, nor ever grow old
Shadows are like thoughts, they appear in every place
They can show up in an instant then vanish without a trace
Shadows are like memories, being created every day
At first they're very easy to see but over time they fade away
Shadows are like fear, they alter what is real
They can change the way we think and even how we feel
Shadows are like dreams, they can create things that don't exist
What may appear to be a cute little dog is usually just someones fist
