Sunlight Beams
Sunlight beams amid the scattered leaves.
As birds will tweet their simple melodies.
Beneath, the shade becomes our medium.
And darkness will fall unexpectedly.
The damp of mud and kiss of wind
My soul at rest while eyes are blind
And bark more brittle than a thousand knives
Life is teeming without their kind.
In medias res, raucous cries
Assiduous, ragged, lionized
Rouse me from a deeper sleep
And introduce to bleary eyes
The World.
