"I have great faith in fools, self-confidence my friends call it." - Edgar Allan Poe

In ev'ry story's golden light
There is a demon clothed in white
And a quiver on his back
But getteth not from Heaven High
And if thus told then thus a lie

And on this demon is a face
A face in hide of Heaven's grace
Set apart from deity
This face is hidden by a guise
Of glory angel pure and wise

He walketh here; his temporal home
From underneath; his hellish dome
Ev'ry step he leav'th behind
In Underhall in flame below
He leav'th a lick of deathly blow

He's known no more to mortal man
Than I to he in Holy plan
His silhouette simply feeds
Devour'th all in mid of night
But naught in day for divine bright

Yet none can see him, none can know
His darkness blade or sight bestow
For he is alike a ghost
A ghastly wretch with naught a bone
And naught a heart at least not known

Take off the golden, glory mask
End the Heaven’s perfect bask
And then what’s only left
Is a devil in his silver lies
A demon’s haloed white disguise

There is a lot of older English usage in here such as: thus, guise, naught (meaning not ever), and lick (meaning beating).
