I am paraphrasing, of course. "My only fear is that when they are turned to loving they will find we are turned to hating." -Reverand Msimangu, Cry, The Beloved Country (a book by Alan Paton)

Deep in the willow,
There lives a friendly troll.
With your head on the pillow
See all the hills that roll.

The troll says ‘Hello!
Let me lead you away.’
And the animals watch
As the bed sways, sways, sways.

You wake up in a willow,
He’s nowhere to be found.
Take your head off the pillow
And start to look around.

The troll says ‘Hello!
What a beautiful day!’
The sun shines so brightly
As you play, play, play.

It gets dark in the willow
You’ve been playing all day long.
Put your head on the pillow
And listen to his song.

The troll says ‘Goodnight!
We’ll meet again some day.’
And you fall fast asleep
As the bed flies away…

This piece started out as a poem and ended up as a lullaby. I don't know what made me think of it though.
