Tarnished
“What defines a mountain’s peak?”
You ask without ice to numb
Not quite wise to hypothesize
As you sever Humanity’s thumb
“What separates a man from beast?”
In a tone that suggests you’re aware
Action drowns out whispered words
As Humanity’s legs you tear
“What is there to hold on to?”
You demand of a world gone insane
Few can withstand such consequence
As you scramble Humanity’s brain
“What two hands could intertwine?”
In a desperate voice you say
As you reach inside of us
And rearrange our DNA
A race composed of bullets stacked
Too fragile for our needs
We walk right through with jagged heels
As the ground beneath us bleeds
