The Last Kiss
Those eyes I see as they have seen
A love shared in one life eternally
They drink in each sight, commit to memory
Though always with thirst they linger on me

The body pumping more than blood through my veins
My mind may direct, but my heart takes the reigns
My soul reaches out, calling your name
The longing in my skin makes me nearly insane

I have walked many paths, and have loved all my life
Though your love has brought me through all of my strife
A thought of your dissolution bears a strike of a knife
Though your life gives me hope to go on every night

I gaze into the pools of purity and see a lifetime of love
Just one look into that place lifts me far above
If heaven were a papable place than you would be the dove
To bring me swiftly under wing with peace no one could shove

So here we stand face to face to end another day
So gallant is this moment that my heart begins to sway
It falters when you come so close with only inches away
The last kiss before you leave my side, that begs for you to stay.
