Silent Song
A noise without voice;
An empty, hollow sound is all that fills my ears.
Heard, yet void of sound
Preying on my hurts and fears.
The silent sound is terrifying.
My head beats like a ticking bomb.
All the while it haunts me,
This rending blade, this Silent Song.
It gives joy beyond measure,
But deep inside, I feel a groaning.
These things that give us pleasure,
To me, they’re nothing but a groaning.
We have so little disregard
For the words that exit from our mouths.
All the while, it taunts me.
This bloody blade, this Silent Song.
Deep inside, wars are raging.
Right does war with sin and wrong.
And all the while, it haunts me,
This wretched blade, this Silent Song.
