We all laugh quietly
As you reap the consequences
Of reckless actions

We sing you a lullaby
As you woe
What you can no longer fix

And when you wish
That no one had done you wrong
We exchange looks
For you are too naïve

We shake our heads
As you gravitate
Towards your mistakes
For remembering is tempting
The toxic thoughts
Becoming an everyday thing

And when you see the light
You weep until dawn’s dewy call
We cradle your head in our arms
And give you a dose of sleeping pills
For remembering is what can get us in the end

Most of my poetry is from personal experience, including this one. I hope that when people read this they will gain insight from it, so they will not repeat the same mistake that I, and others, have.
