Addiction
It is easy to slip into the old way,
it beckons like a bitter cup of coffee,
waiting for you at the end of the day.

When the messy chaos of life may
bring you outside for a puff so heavenly,
it is easy to slip into the old way

Those rich, dark bottles on display
contain the promise of escape and numb free-
dom, waiting for you at the end of the day

In shiny red chips and the roll of die lay
the persistent belief in success eventually,
It is easy to slip into the old way.

Even though you know that you will pay,
You crawl back to his room quietly,
waiting for him at the end of the day.

Just this once and never again, you say,
I am strong, it cannot beat me,
But it is easy to slip into the old way
waiting for you at the end of the day.
