In Memory Of
Why does life seem so unfair?
Taking away everything for which I care.
One by one they fade away,
To a "better place" some might say.
Memories are all that remain in the end,
And a fractured heart that no one can mend.
Is a simple reason too much to ask?
Why have You taken them, for a job or a task?
People say "It's just their time to go",
But confusion remains for those in sorrow.
Trying to comprehend the tragedy that has occurred,
Not understanding the precious price that has been incurred.
A loved one's life gone in flash,
Taken away by a weakened heart, sudden illness or an unexpected crash.
Will they ever know the love and pain of those left behind?
Or is closure something that we will never find?
Despite these misfortunes, life must go on.
We must carry on the legacy of those that are gone.
To all of those that I have loved and lost,
I will never forget you at any cost.
