If you keep writing, you will pick up structure. You will pick up form

- Richard Matheson

Frosty windows, soft snow,

Frozen duck ponds, the ice wind blows.

Slippery streets, hot cocoa,

Furry coats, love-struck locos.

Christmas trees, mistletoes,

Yuletide logs, vibrant bows.

Heavy snowplows, endless digging,

The sounds of a New Year beginning.

Glass of eggnog, family dinners.

Giant feasts; we aren’t getting thinner.

Morning presents. Sharp icicles.

Late night sleet and shaky
bicycles.

Freezing rain as cold as ice.

Santa visits those who are nice.

You might trade winter for sand and sun.

But let’s face it, winter can sure be fun.
