Interpretation of Africa
Bare back
 Every vertebra visible
 Empty bellies
Cups half way full with rain water
Dirt and misquote larva in the bottom
During the day its sun burnt faces and hot bodies
At night it’s shivering struggling to stay warm
 Rotting cavity filled teeth
 Nobody knows the difference
 If there’s an eye problem
 A stigmatism
 A struggle to see
 Nobody knows the difference
 No education
 No learning to read
 They might have names
They just don’t know how to spell it
Infection in between pieces of open flesh
Bodies exposed to the world all day
 Dirt in every crevice
 Hair nappy matted into knots
 Only removable by scissors
This is all there’s ever been
It’s not that they don’t dream for a better future
It’s just that they don’t know what that looks like
