The Wallet
I was walking down the street and I saw a wallet on the ground,
I picked it up and it seemed to weigh right around a pound,
Instinctively I opened it and took a little peek
Its contents solely
Made me breathe slowly
And was enough to make me shriek.
Inside it, behold
A sheet of gold
What luck I’ve hit,
Struck Gold I’ll Admit
My thoughts continued to roll.
Oh but wait this can’t be my fate,
This Wallet’s not mine,
I’ve committed a crime.
When in doubt,
Leave it out,
That’s what mama always said,
So I’ll flee the scene,
While my hands are still clean,
For no blood has yet been shed.
