"What makes a flower a flower? And why doesn't the dandelion qualify?" -From my poem "Dandelions"

Petal by petal
I plucked away
Petal by petal
It wasted away
A rose in my hand
Thorns and all
I held it tight
The thorns scarred
My palm
It disappeared.
I picked it from the rose bed
I took away its life
My fingertips felt the
Smooth petals and pulled
Them out of life
A higher force, bigger than
You and me
Plucked us from the rose bed
Abused us and damaged us so
Until our special bond was lost
The bittersweet memories
Plucked away
Petal by petal
Moment by moment
Everything we shared
Scarred with blood upon
My hands
The thorns a tourniquet
To the heart
Yet I do not care
I never did
Amatory feelings plucked away
Emotionless I stand
No tears for I am invincible
No pain for I am immortal
What was lost killed me
But I began again.
