"A Freed Bird - A Story of Hope"
The caged bird leaps
From perch to perch
Giving the gift of her song
To her lost children,
Her haunting melody
Echoing across the meadow
For all to hear.
She sings of what they
Will never know;
Rosy-fingered dawn,
A long winter's snow,
Or a green wild flower's buds.
Her tune is heard through the whispering trees.
In this song, she kisses them goodbye.
The insects fall silent in their revelry,
The squirrels stop their chatter,
Even the passing humans
Know that something is the matter.
All lend their ear to the wistful tunes.
Her long, low song will shatter
The concert that was left from the moon's
Majestic, magical dance.
Suddenly, another song greets our ears
Ringing through the trees, loud and clear.
A song of hope and faith
One that lifts and warms the spirit.
A once caged mother now turns to hope,
Though her children are long gone,
Her tune is heard through the whispering trees.
In this song, she kisses them good bye.
The insects fall silent in their revelry,
The squirrels stop their chatter,
Even the passing humans
Know that something is the matter.
All lend their ear to the wistful tunes.
Her long, low song will shatter
The concert that was left from the moon's
Majestic, magical dance.
