The Horse
I watch as you run
 In the shinning sun
Unable to tear my eyes away
Your mane entwined with wisps of hay
 You leave hoof shaped marks
 That set off sparks
 When your shoes
 Strike hues
 Of deep red rocks
 Staining your socks
 With blood like color
 That slowly gets duller
As the sun starts to set
 I’ll bet
 That you’ve notice me
 And then you’ll see
 That I’ve been waiting
 Recreating
 In my mind
 Trying to find
A time that beats this moment
 Unsuccessfully finding a worthy opponent
 So I sit back
 Hoping to distract
 As you walk over
 Your head getting lower
 Looking at me
 As we silently agree
 That the time has come
 Although we are glum
 To call it a night
 In the fading light
 As we return
 Still we yearn
 For the daylight hours
 Without rain showers
 I say goodnight
 And I know you’re alright
 As I turn to leave
