Stepping Inside A Door
As I step into a door I suddenly feel lonely
I stand there alone waiting for someone to open me
I know someone will open me
They do not pay attention to me
They walk up to me slam me open
And then slam me shut so hard the house trembles
I keep in there privacy
And all the secrets, I hear
I keep out the rain snow and wind
I keep in the warmth in the winter
And the cold in the summer
I keep out people that don’t belong
And let in the people that belong
But they do something for me
They can paint me
And that helps me keep going
Even though they don’t care
They know I cannot think
I can’t help it
This is what I am
This my job
