Alive
We'd follow the one we love
Into a destructive battle.
We'd question faith if we could
And without an answer.
We'd be just another person if that were popular
Or an anomaly if we liked to stand out.
We'd jump off buildings and bridges
Just to feel the rush.
Only to land safely.
We'd break the rules
And know every punishment we got was a reward.
We'd run in the middle of a sprinkler
Just to see if the water was cold.
We'd do a million wrong things
Just to see if we were alive.
We'd go deep and far
Where everything is warm.
We'd do all this
And yet we felt nothing and everything.
We felt alive.
