Like Everyone Else
I Was…
Just a little kid…
Just equal, like everyone else…
Just the kid who had right answers…
Just the kid with multicultural parents…
Just the kid who felt on top of a sprawling mountain…
Just the kid who doesn’t know what’s expected of him…
Just the kid who deemed to be able to change the world…
Just as clueless as a lively mouse reaching for food over a mousetrap.
I Am…
Asian…
Classified because of my ABC…
The one who has to have the right answers…
The one who can’t get around the fact that they’re bicultural yet not bilingual.
The one who strives to flatten out the peaks and valleys of race…
The one who knows of his own stereotypes…
But can’t do anything about it…
Where do I belong?
Am I still like everyone else?
