Caught
Its like you’re there
Caught up in the tin-capped
peach-raspberry preserves jar in my pocket
winking at my stumbling stupidity
and laughing at my worry
brushing off the sticky-sweetness of the fruit
as I joggle you around
look at you upside down
and wish that you were always with me
like the glass
its like you’re there
walking around in circles
treading paths into the berry seeds
hoping I’m alright
when I go to lie in bed
and set my jar of youthful fireflies
by my bed to guide my dreams
you are there harnessing the lamplight
into one just joyful sleigh ride
through the night
my dreams glowing in firefly light
with you by my side
