Gettysburg
What I remember about that day
the blood, the bodies
I also remember the smells
gore, rot, and flies
I saw my friends on the ground
blood on back, painful to the eyes
I heard the sounds
shouts, cannon, gunshot, and the worst, mourning
I felt an avenging passion to get back
on the men that killed my brothers
And yet we still trudge on,
trying to find a solution to our nation’s struggle
and we still think we are making progress
by killing our nation’s men
