There is no Glory in War
Grey haired and wrinkled he sat in his rocking chair.
While his little boy ran round and round
He thought of the pain he had to bear.
The little boy would grow up thinking guns and bombs were fun
If his grandpa didn’t tell him
Of the times he had to run.
He pulled the boy into his lap hoping he wouldn’t bore
Then told him the story of Vietnam and declared
“There is no glory in war”
Years later the boy asked “Why aren’t you proud of the things you’ve done?”
“Because the battle might be over” he replied
“But the war is never won”
