Favorite Quote:
There is freedom waiting for you,
On the breezes of the sky,
And you ask "What if I fall?"
Oh but my darling,
What if you fly?
-E.H.

You allow doors to open and you let them close
Where you came from, nobody knows
You’re always there, letting people in
No matter what was their sin
You are twisted, sometimes broken and bent
But you never give up the time that you spent
Clicking shut each time you are moved
Helping those around you to find out what to do
You keep your feelings in, helping others instead
Calming the voices inside their heads
You open the doors before letting them close
But there are always two sides, everyone knows
Each side of you is different but still the same
Those on both sides all know your name
Dealing with feelings, both inside and out
Locking them away when there is any doubt
You allow doors to open and you let them close
Why you help people, nobody knows

The author's comments:

The goal of this poem was to write a piece that captured the emotion caring and make an object such as a doorknob represent that emotion without saying the word.
