"shine on" "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

Once upon a fragile time,
A hopeless, lost, and lonely mind,
Tirelessly trying to fill the pit,
Were darkness likes to take a rest,
Spending its excess time,
Pillaging and raping the fragile mind.

Sitting there during a lonely spell,
Frantically clawing out of the lonesome hell,
Looking for the spot light,
To find direction in this night.

Finally finds it in your eyes,
A scape of beauty in astounding light,
A reason to silence the dead,
To wake up and begin to mend.
A reason to follow the way,
To ignore all they have to say.

Wanting desperately to take your hand,
To explore these promise lands,
To drink from the lake,
To let go of the hate,
To allow you in,
To begin to mend.

Yet the love one desires,
Isn’t always in the fire,
Sometimes we must weep,
For dreams that will never meet,
Her image dims in the unrequited,
The happy dream soon blighted.

Watching her in another's hands,
On your wrists are the hot bands,
Hot tears fade to dust,
As you feel the strength of lust.

Never feeling the warmth of skin,
Soon the light begins to dim,
Dreaming of calling her name,
The word keeping it aflame,
Hoping that one day soon,
You can call yourself the groom,
But the tux gathers grime,
At the hands of father time,
Your love will never be,
But a wistful fantasy,
A hopeful prayer,
Now a cry of despair.

But the dreams keep you alive,
Gives you reason to fight,
To hope,
That one day soon,
You’ll hold hands under the moon.
Even if it will never be,
At least it existed in your dreams.

We have all felt the sting of unrequited love. To have our hearts devoted to one who will never understand what it is we gave to them. To all who have felt this dull strike, this is for you.
