'The pain will go away,' he said
As a man wrapped gauze around his head
He tasted blood behind his lips,
And throbbing bruises on his hips

'I'm tougher than you think,' he winced
The man rolled his eyes, unconvinced
An arctic chill whizzed through the air
He ran swollen fingers through his hair

His tears fell on the sidewalk as he stumbled in the street
A dozen faces stopped to stare, but no one stopped to speak

I love this poem!! The meter in it is amamzing. It reminds me of a really good song called "The Boxer" by Simon and Garfunkel. It's one of my favorite songs ever.
