The pen is mightier than the sword
But after awhile the knife gets bored
Lingers close inside the mind
And cuts the wire that will entwine

Ink blots run along the line
The loose leaves tally up the fine
But prescriptions cost for the old
And leave you bitter, or so I'm told

Clock rings without a tick
The incessant noise of the click
Savor the space between the tock
Our lives run along by the clock
