I lay here in deep rest,
Not worrying about a bullet busting through my chest.
I lay here and dream,
blocking out the loud scream.
I lay here with my arms crossed,
waiting for a grenade to be tossed.
I lay here with my gun by my side,
dreaming of where to run and hide.
I lay here with my helmet off,
in the distance the bombs go off.
I lay here on the grass,
waiting for this horror to pass.
I lay here on the ground,
wishing I was a kid so I can run around.
I lay here with my AK-47
having flashbacks from when I was eleven.
I lay here in deep rest,
hoping for the best.
