#1
The words are the cruelest rain
Falling on a stone wall,
If they keep on repeating,
I am going to fall.

She knew they kept me safe,
That they kept me dry and warm.
So she took me by the hands,
And from my wrists they were torn.

#2
Time holds me by my hand,
Leads me forwards the whole way.
Physically, I’m moving on, but
Mentally, I want to stay.

I know better than to fight it,
On this journey I’ve already left.
But I want my childhood back,
Innocence taken like theft.

#3
Great Grandma’s sun set
Just before I turned nine.
And although the dark was heavy,
I don’t remember if I cried.

I couldn’t imagine a world without her.
Nothing was the same.
But the earth kept on spinning,
And now I’m numb to that pain.

#4
Our world ended quietly.
Companionship now denied
‘Best friends forever,’ she said.
I didn’t know she lied.

I don’t know why she stopped talking.
Maybe it was something I said.
Regardless of that, now
To her, I am dead.

#5
She is your dearest friend,
The most beautiful thing you’ve seen
In your entire life,
Although you’re only fourteen.

You see her smile brightly
And it hurts so much to return it.
Because you see her happy,
And you know you are no cause of it.
