When I Was Young

When I was young,
Bedtime songs were sung,
Nighttime stories were told,
And the same ones never got old.

When I was young,
Mom yelled at me and I would stick out my tongue,
I would spend most of my time playing,
“I wish I was older” is what I was saying.

When I was young,
I did not realize time was sprung,
It felt like I was put in a time machine,
I was just six, yet now I am fifteen.

When I was young,
Trees are where I would be hung,
Day after day,
Until the ideal life suddenly went away.

I like this piece because it lets me dive back into when I was younger and lived in simpler times!
