Shell
You hide your delicate nature
Beneath a crusty shell of denial
You don't want to believe that you are human
And as breakable as glass
You convince everyone that you're strong
A fortress of rock and armor
But I look through your shell
The soft, tender person
You want no one to see
Underneath your battered armor
You hide
Feeling trapped and alone
Waiting for someone to venture out
Pry open your shell
And see you for who you truly are
